A new video about growing up with an international perspective
As we strive to internationalize our campuses, Global Nomads (GNs) and Third Culture Kids (TCKs) have transcultural backgrounds that naturally contribute to their intercultural competence, allowing them to be cultural bridges in our increasingly interconnected world.
"You have a wider scope," says Daniel, one of the global nomad students featured in the video, "I find myself seeing things from the perspective of other countries and other cultures automatically."
In this new video, Global Nomads: Cultural Bridges in the Age of Technology, you can hear 14 Cornell students from a variety of countries and cultures sharing their experiences and insights about growing up around the world.
The students exchange ideas about cultural identity and marginality, transition and reentry, family and friends, technology, and benefits and challenges of being a Global Nomad/Third Culture Kid.
They also provide advice for GNs/TCKs and international families, as well as those working with them: teachers, counselors, advisors, relocation agencies, and others.
